Makeup Tips for Moms on the Run, By Guest Blogger Jenny G

Being a mother sometimes means putting your child’s needs ahead of your own(sometimes? pretty much most of the time!). A lot of my clients mention to me that once you become a mother, you suddenly leave out the eyeliner and skip one or two hair appointments! I can’t imagine how difficult it can be when you want to take care of yourself but you just don’t have that time. That’s why I’m going to give you ladies a few makeup tips to help you get ready in the morning. These tips can be used alone or all together and can help give a boost to your face without a whole makeup look.

Most women who are in a rush to get ready don’t have the time to apply foundation. I recommend a tinted moisturizer or BB cream, these products are quick to apply as they can be done with your hands. It’s also a quick way to even out your skin tone and conceal any imperfections.

I know that in the morning there isn’t much time, however I think it is a must to conceal under your eyes. Concealing is what takes your whole look from “I’m tired” to “I had 10 hours of sleep last night”. Puffiness and darkness under the eyes is what always gives away that a person is tired or lacking sleep (as most mothers are). Concealing under the eyes doesn’t take too much time, just grab your concealer and apply it without a brush, patting it with your fingers helps the concealer blend seamlessly and efficiently. Try a light reflecting concealer which will not only conceal but brighten the area.

The one product that I always say completely changes everything is mascara. The moment you apply mascara your overall look is transformed into a more bright eyed look. Mascara brightens the whites of your eyes and also makes your eyes larger. Make sure to curl your lashes before applying mascara as it will make a world of a difference.

I always recommend applying some blush on the cheeks to give a nice freshness to the face. I like to apply a peachy pink blush because it gives a natural flush to the face, my two favourites are Nars “Orgasm” and “Deep Throat”; both blushes match a variety of skin tones.

If I don’t have time in the morning I like to put on a lipstick that is more sheer so that I don’t need a mirror to reapply throughout the day. Some of my favourites are Dior Addict Lipsticks and Yves Saint Laurent Volupte Sheer Candy- Glossy Balm Crystal Colour. Both of these lipsticks provide a sheer glossy finish but still give a nice colour to the lips.

These are just some tips I like to use when I need to give myself a more awake look. Keep in mind that you don’t need to do all of these steps, tailor it to your own needs. So if your lips are pigmented but your skin is uneven, focus on making the skin stand out. Or if you see dullness around your eyes work on concealing and brightening the eye as well as applying a quick coat of mascara. I know all of these steps sound like they’re going to take forever but if you wanted to do all of the tips together it would probably take you maybe 7 minutes once you do it regularly.

I hope this article and video have helped you see that makeup can be effortless and easy!

Try out some of these tips and let me know what you think!
